Europe Next Door — dialogue in Nijmegen
A free public conversation about Ukraine, EU enlargement and Europe's shared future, with Dutch and Ukrainian speakers and room for audience questions.
About this event
Europe Next Door brings the debate about EU enlargement to a public audience in Nijmegen, with Ukraine at the centre. Organised by Brand New Ukraine together with Nijmegen4Ukraine, the evening welcomes people who do not usually attend European policy meetings, including those with doubts or critical questions.
The discussion covers the rule of law, economic opportunities, the labour market, agriculture, sustainability and European security. Dutch and Ukrainian perspectives are brought together through facts, personal experiences and a cultural element. The series invites respectful disagreement and questions without predetermined conclusions.
The announced speakers are Michiel Scheffer, president of the European Innovation Council Board; public speaker Marijn Markus; Liliya Levandovska, coordinator of Nijmegen4Ukraine and senior grant advisor at Radboud University; and Ukrainian activist Yana Rudenko. The official poster names Kido Koenig as moderator. Europe Next Door is presented as an official satellite event of the EU Enlargement Forum 2026.
The Nijmegen meeting takes place on Sunday 15 November 2026 from 19:30 to 21:00 at De Thiemeloods, Leemptstraat 34, 6512 EN Nijmegen. Admission is free. Use the official tour and registration website for attendance information and registration. The local organiser’s page provides the confirmed speakers, time and venue; it does not specify the spoken language or interpretation arrangements.
