No Peace Without Justice — survivor voices and accountability for Ukraine

Survivors and experts discuss accountability for crimes in Ukraine, with English–Ukrainian interpretation during The Hague Justice Week.

About this event

The Netherlands Helsinki Committee and Eastern Ukrainian Centre for Civil Initiatives bring survivor testimony and legal expertise together during The Hague Justice Week. The discussion considers what accountability can mean for people affected by crimes in Ukraine, placing their needs alongside the practical possibilities of justice mechanisms.

Maryna Suprun, Valentyna Pestushko and EUCCI director Volodymyr Scherbachenko share experiences of life under occupation. Utrecht University researcher Iva Vukušić and a representative of the Register of Damage for Ukraine contribute expert perspectives. NHC programme officer Céline Guyénot moderates. EUCCI also presents Uninvited, a collection of 25 personal accounts from Ukrainians who lived under Russian occupation between 2014 and 2022.

Tuesday 17 November 2026, Bankhall at Het Nutshuis, Riviervismarkt 5, 2513 AM The Hague. Arrival and tea/coffee begin at 17:00; the panel runs 17:30–18:30, followed by questions until 19:00 and refreshments until 19:30. Times are local Netherlands time. English and Ukrainian simultaneous interpretation is provided.
