Ukraine Chamber Opera performs Verdi’s La Traviata at Musis in Arnhem. Based on Francesco Maria Piave’s libretto after Alexandre Dumas’s La dame aux camélias, the opera follows Violetta’s struggle between love, social expectations and the cost of personal freedom.
This production uses a small cast and chamber orchestra to bring the drama close to the audience. The company brings together musicians and singers from Ukraine and presents its work as cultural representation of its homeland. Marc Krone directs the staging, with musical direction by Jeroen Weierink. The venue describes the production as a contemporary, intimate approach to the opera rather than a large-scale spectacle.
The performance takes place on Saturday 13 March 2027 at 20:00 in the Parkzaal at Musis, Velperbinnensingel 15, Arnhem. Doors open at 19:00.
