Special Operation — ENFF and producer Q&A

Oleksiy Radynski’s documentary built from Chornobyl CCTV recordings, screened with English subtitles at ENFF. Followed by a Q&A with producer Lyuba Knorozok.

About this event

Oleksiy Radynski’s documentary Special Operation reconstructs the Russian occupation of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant through the facility’s own surveillance recordings. The cameras continued running after troops arrived on 24 February 2022, leaving a record of five weeks in which a nuclear site became a military base during the attack on Kyiv.

The film uses this material throughout, inviting viewers to examine the everyday movements and actions captured by CCTV as evidence. This Ukrainian–Lithuanian production from 2025 offers a distinctive documentary perspective on occupation, nuclear danger and the role of images in establishing what happened. It is presented at the 18th Eastern Neighbours Film Festival, held at Filmhuis Den Haag from 4 to 8 November.

This screening is on 8 November at 15:00 in Zaal 4, Spui 191, The Hague. The film runs for 65 minutes; the ticketing schedule lists the session until 16:31. Spoken languages are Ukrainian and Russian, with English subtitles. After the film, producer Lyuba Knorozok joins the audience for a Q&A, offering an opportunity to discuss the documentary and its production.

Standard admission is €12.50. Tickets are €10 with CJP or for visitors aged 26 and under or holding a student card, and €6.25 with an Ooievaarspas. Cineville is accepted; select the applicable ticket category and bring the required pass. For wheelchair seating, contact the cinema.
