Letters Home — documentary theatre and aftertalk
United Ukrainian Theatre and Actor’s House from Zaporizhzhia explore home, displacement and connection through personal testimony.
About this event
What makes a place home when war separates people from familiar streets and from one another? Letters Home is a documentary theatre collaboration between United Ukrainian Theatre in the Netherlands and Actor’s House, the municipal theatre in Zaporizhzhia. It brings together the experiences of Ukrainians living abroad and those who remain in Ukraine.
Personal testimony and verbatim monologues explore loss, adaptation and the effort to stay connected. Professional actors, displaced people and veterans contribute to the project through live performance and recorded stories. The creative team includes director Yasha Gudzenko, dramaturgs Alexander Schreuder and Sasha Denisova, and performers Alesia Andrushevska and Viacheslav Rakovskyi. An aftertalk follows; its speakers are still to be announced.
