Special Operation — ENFF (5 November)
Oleksiy Radynski’s documentary built from Chornobyl CCTV recordings, screened with English subtitles at ENFF.
About this event
Oleksiy Radynski’s documentary Special Operation reconstructs the Russian occupation of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant through the facility’s own surveillance recordings. The cameras continued running after troops arrived on 24 February 2022, leaving a record of five weeks in which a nuclear site became a military base during the attack on Kyiv.
The film uses this material throughout, inviting viewers to examine the everyday movements and actions captured by CCTV as evidence. This Ukrainian–Lithuanian production from 2025 offers a distinctive documentary perspective on occupation, nuclear danger and the role of images in establishing what happened. It is presented at the 18th Eastern Neighbours Film Festival, held at Filmhuis Den Haag from 4 to 8 November.
