Varenik Fest brings Ukrainian food and culture to Heerenveen for a community celebration with a charitable purpose. Ukrainians, Dutch neighbours and other visitors are invited to meet over traditional varenyky and enjoy a programme announced to include a concert, folk dancing, competitions and a lottery.
The fundraiser supports children treated in the pediatric hematology department of City Clinical Multidisciplinary Hospital No.25 in Kharkiv. In its public announcement, the festival organiser explains that the hospital serves children from Kharkiv and the surrounding region as well as displaced families. The stated needs include diagnostic and treatment equipment and renovation of intensive-care facilities.
