Oksana Zabuzhko — Crossing Border literary conversation

Ukrainian writer Oksana Zabuzhko joins interviewer Alicja Gescinka at Crossing Border for an hour devoted to her novel Museum of Abandoned Secrets, presented in Dutch as Museum van verlaten geheimen. The conversation is part of the festival’s Saturday daytime programme in The Hague.

Zabuzhko studied philosophy in Kyiv and has published internationally translated fiction and essays. Her work examines how individual experience and national memory shape one another. This novel follows television producer Daryna, whose discovery of a wartime photograph leads into several generations of Ukrainian history. Family stories, missing records and unresolved questions connect the past to her own life; the book combines a family saga, mystery and love story.

The session takes place on Saturday 7 November 2026, 13:00–14:00, in the festival tent at Lange Voorhout 74, The Hague.
